Abstract

ABSTRACT

The study area is located in Wulu Village, Talaga Raya Subdistrict, Central Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province and is composed of ultramafic rocks and has a characteristic form of morphology that is rough, elongated and straight with a high slope. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphological form of the study area and its relationship with the thickness of the laterite zone. The research stages consist of literature review, data collecting, and data analysis. The results showed that the morphological form in Blocks X and Y has a steep hill laterite morphological form because it has a slope of ≥20˚ and based on the correlation results of slope with laterite cross section data from drilling results, Block X has a slope at the drilling point location that is sloping - steep so that the laterite in Block X is thicker than Block Y which has a steep - very steep slope. This is influenced by high water run-off which causes the laterite layer on the surface to erode faster and water does not penetrate well into block Y.
