HUBUNGAN ANTARA KEBIASAAN MEMBACA DENGAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA SISWA SMP NEGERI 3 KOTA BOGOR

Abstract


This research is a type of quantitative research with a correlational approach consisting of reading habits as independent variables and students' speaking skills as dependent variables. Based on the results of observations in the State Junior High School 03 of the City of Bogor, the speaking skills of class VIII were still low. This was detected when the teacher asked all students in the class of 75 people, generally students took a long time to answer questions from the teacher. The main objective of this study was to determine the relationship between reading habits and students' speaking skills. This research was carried out using a survey method. The subjects of this study were students of class VIII State Junior High School 03 City of Bogor, which amounted to 306 respondents taking this sample using the Taro Yamane formula. Based on the results of data analysis techniques used are regression analysis techniques and simple correlations. Simple regression analysis and correlation techniques produce a relationship model which is expressed in the form of a regression equation that is Y = 12.6 + 0.67X, with the Fcount of 74.58 greater than Ftable with a level of 0.05 of 4.04, and contributions based the research results are 20%, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between reading habits with students' speaking skills.
