Abstract


IMPLEMENTATION OF TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT AS A LEADER'S EFFORT IN IMPROVING TEACHER PERFORMANCE AT DAARUL ULUM MODERN ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL, BOGOR REGENCY

Total Quality Management was a quality management system that focuses on customers and involves all employees in progression or continually improvements. Pre-study observations proved that the leader at Pondok Modern Daarul Ulum Kab. Bogor tended to apply a democratic leadership style in the development of Islamic boarding schools. In addition, there was a decrease in the number of graduates who continued studying abroad. This study aimed was to get relationship between the variables of democratic leadership style and Total Quality Management on teacher performance. The method used in this study was a survey with a correlational approach. The populations of this study were all teachers of Pondok Modern Daarul Ulum Kab. Bogor. The sampling method used a saturated sampling technique so that the entire population was used as a sample, as many as 244 teachers. During performing the analysis, the researcher used multiple linear regression analysis as well as hypothesis test that consisted of t test, F test and coefficient of determination test. By seeing the result, it could be seen that the democratic leadership style variable had a positive and significant relationship to teacher performance; meanwhile the Total Quality Management variable had no relationship to teacher performance.
