Development Of Teaching Materials For Writing Description Texts Based On Local Wisdom For Class VII Students MTs Negeri 2 Padang Lawas Utara

Abstract


This research aims to determine the results of developing teaching materials for writing descriptive texts based on local wisdom for class VII students at MTs Negeri 2 Padang Lawas Utara. The method used is research and development (R&D) with the Borg and Gall model. The data collection instruments used were (1) material and learning design validation questionnaires; (2) teacher and student response questionnaires; and (3) student learning outcome tests. The data analysis technique uses a Likert scale. The results of this research show that (1) the process of developing teaching materials is carried out in ten steps, and (2) the feasibility of the materials being developed is obtained from the assessment of material experts, design, teacher responses, and all students. The average percentage obtained from the assessment results from material experts I and II was 89%, the assessment from design experts I and II was 88.3%, the teacher's response was 89%, and the response of all students was 91% with the category "very good."  (3) Effectiveness before using teaching materials (pretest) was 70.61, and after using the developed teaching materials (posttest) it increased to 82.25. This value shows a significant increase in student learning outcomes, with a difference of 11.64. This research has implications for practical contributions to implementing the learning process for both teachers and students.
