Implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) Through the Application of the PDCA Method at Darma Persada University, East Jakarta
Abstract
This study discusses how the implementation of TQM at UNSADA is an effort to improve the quality of education in achieving predetermined quality standards. The approach used in this study is to apply the PDCA policy continuously and consolidate it through standardization. The points of the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT) RENSTRA The Action Plan is integrated with the Web Base Attached Form which is controlled by the Quality Assurance Unit. Research results: (1) Continuous improvement is carried out by consistently applying the PDCA method with supervision and guidance from UNSADA partners, namely TOYOTA and consolidation through standardization, (2) Determining quality standards (quality assurance) is carried out by setting benchmarks or quality points that must be met by the institute and all work units within Darma Persada University (continuous quality improvement) in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. Drama Persada University Quality Standards consist of: 24 SN Dikti standards, 7 institutional standards and 5 additional standards. The National Education Standards adopted in the implementation of SPMI at Unsada consist of 24 Standards namely: 8 Education standards, 8 research standards and 8 community service standards. (3) Culture change (change of culture) is carried out by applying the standard work culture of Japanese companies, namely the Five (5) S, 1. Seiri (get rid of unused items), 2. Seiton (Arrange the location and storage of goods), 3. Seiso (Clean all work items and areas), 4. Seikettsu (All work practices must run consistently) and 5. Shitsuke (maintain and review things that have been standardized regularly). (4) Organizational change (upside down-organization) is carried out by restructuring the existing organization by applying the principle of "Poor Structure with Rich Functions" and it is hoped that the Organization will move effectively and efficiently and (5) Maintaining relationships with customers (keeping close to the customer) is done by establishing and maintaining cooperation with existing partners and looking for breakthroughs by changing promotion strategies by involving all stakeholders.
